Playground Fall

We were at a park for a playgroup and Celeste and Wade were off playing with several of the kids that were there. I was chatting with the moms and didn't have my full attention on the kids when one of the mothers tells me Celeste just fell. I walk no run over to her (not thinking it was too bad) and pick her up off the wood chips and carry her back to the table. I hold her for maybe 5 minutes and notice her face is a little beat up from being attacked by the wood chips when she landed on the ground. She's calmed down and she wanted to go back and play. One of the moms mentioned that her left arm looked funny. She could move it and I let her go back to playing. So after coming home and eating lunch, I noticed Celeste kept favoring her left arm. She would still use it but then would bring it close to her body and hold it with her right arm. She wouldn't use it to bear her body weight (like pushing herself up from sitting on the floor) or pulling herself up on the chair. I was pretty worried and called the doctor. We'd never seen this doctor and our old doctor kicked us out of his practice, but they said we could come in NOW in case we need to get x-rays. I had a hard time finding someone to pick up Treyton from school in 1/2 an hour. Finally I got a hold of someone and was off to the doctor's office. They were really good about getting us in on short notice. Celeste cried and screamed no matter where the doctor touched on her arm. He wasn't convinced anything was really wrong and told us we should wait and watch it and come back if necessary tomorrow. I "knew" something was wrong, but I went along with the doctor. I went to pick Treyton up from a friend's house and Celeste went to play on their swingset. She still favored her arm, but didn't let that stop her from playing. She even hung from the rings. The next day I took Celeste to Target and she was running in the aisle and she fell down and caught herself with her hands. She started crying which was a huge sign to me that something was very wrong. She never cries when she falls down and she falls down all the time. The doctor's office was just down the road from Target, so I decided to just take her there right then and get x-rays. The doctor's office called me for the follow-up call while I was sitting in the waiting room. Once again they got us back to be seen quickly and sent us to get x-rays at the hospital. (We just switched insurances and found out the hard and expensive way that multiple doctor visits =multiple co-pays and hospital x-rays are completely out of pocket--yikes!)
I got a phone call an hour or two later that indeed she had broken her arm and we had to venture out again to the doctor's office to get her arm splinted and call to get her arm casted at another doctor's office. I pretty much got nothing done these last few days except back and forth to doctor's offices with Celeste. She learned very quickly that every time we went to the doctor's office she got a sucker. They gave her a sucker while they put the splint on and she got another one on the way out the door. She wore the cover that first day and I took it off that night to sleep and she never wanted it back on.
You can see above her lip where the wood chips got her.
She fell on Thurs. March 4, got her splint of Friday, March 5 and finally casted Tuesday, March 9. She was so good about getting her cast on, held very still, held the padding for the nurse and even helped pat the cast and rubbed it with lotion afterward. The cast does not bother her at all, only bothers me (like bath time and dressing her). She calls it her band-aid and even picked out her special pink color. Sorry this is so long, I wanted to get all the details down before I forget.
