August in Review

Since I'm so behind, I'm going to post by month. We started the month with more swimming lessons (Aug. 3-13). Treyton turned 6 since the last lessons so he moved up to the next level. Wade did pretty much the same things as in May.
Treyton learned so many more things this time around. He was actually learning swimming strokes and did so well in his class. He swam mostly without the teacher's help.
Shawn's birthday was next and we surprised him at work on his birthday. I had to do some sneaky preparation because of the security they have. But with the help of a couple other people we were able to pull it off without any problems.
Shawn with his one birthday gift--an electic toothbrush!!
School started on Aug. 24. Here's Treyton all ready for 1st grade!
Grandma and Grandpa Hammond came the weekend before school started on their way to Mississippi. This is what Wade and Celeste got to do while Treyton was at school.
Treyton walking to school on his first day. It's just over 1 mile.
Treyton sitting at his desk on the first day.
On Aug. 26, Wade started preschool, here he is with his school provided tote bag.
Wade has to put his lunch away and hang his bag all by himself everyday.
Aug. 28, Celeste home alone (well, at least without brothers) and already getting into trouble.
Aug. 29-31 We actually left on the 28th to travel to a tiny town in Mississippi for our niece's baptism. Here are the cousins watching a movie.
Shawn with the 7 cousins.
Shawn's sister, Michelle, and her family the day of Kennedy's baptism.
Ending the month with my birthday. Beautiful flowers and an electronic toothbrush.

Hansen Family Reunion

July 23-July 25
Craft day, the boys made these swords (light sabers usually)
and marshmellow gun (Wade's got left there).
Games, we had to put on a rolled up frozed t-shirt first. My was frozen solid.
Now the kids turn.

The boys got them undone with the help of hot water from the bathroom.
The kids got to go fishing for prizes. That's Wade.
This is the Hansen family. My mom is the top middle.
We had a talent show and here are 2 of my cousins singing and playing guitar while Celeste got up and danced to the music.
Here's our attempt at a family picture.

Fun Times with Harston Cousins

July 21-23
We took the kids to the Bean Museum and they had little quizzes they could do while they looked around. Here's Treyton, Luke and Ethan working on theirs.
A cub scout troop was getting a reptile show and they let us join too. That's Wade touching one of the reptiles.
After the kids finished their quizzes they got their hands stamped, they are showing off their stamps.
Celeste is not too happy that Lindsey is in the stroller.
Now she is pushing my brother's puppy-Snoopy.
Can you tell she likes strollers? Finally Emmett gets a turn.
We had tons and tons of fun at this place that had tons of bounce houses and huge slides. This is Wade
Treyton and Wesly
Khalani was so good with Celeste, she helped her climb up and slide back down.
This was a gigantic slide and Celeste climbed up all by herself;
And she went down by herself. I took Celeste up and down this slide 3-4 times and I was tired, but she wanted to keep going so she did it by herself.
After all that hard work playing, she was very tired.
Here's all the grandkids from Becky's side of the family. Boy did we all have fun.

Illinois Trip June 19-July 5

This post is full of pictures of our trip to Illinois. We were there for 2 weeks. Here is my mom opening her Mother's Day and Birthday gifts.
My kids and my sister's kids at the park. Everyone climbed up the rock except baby Emmett. We walked there and a lady in my mom's neighborhood commented about us taking our daycare for a walk, after looking at this picture maybe she was serious and we thought she was joking.
The only girls.
It was a long afternoon and only had 2 small strollers. Wade was suppose to be holding Emmett, thank goodness for the seat belt. Celeste was fast asleep in the other stroller.
Here we are at my sister's house on Father's Day. My dad, me, my sister Melinda and my brother Mitchell.
The kids playing in a nice big pool. They played all day long and there were definitely red bodies afterwards, but they had so much fun.
The girls reading books together.
Just hanging out with Abe Lincoln's family. They have an amazing Lincoln museum in Springfield, IL. We first went there when Shawn was going to school and my sister had season passes. The kids really enjoyed the shows, the playroom and most of all finding a penny in the star on the floor.
Nice Sunday picture with Grandma VanZuiden.
Miller Park Zoo with Grandpa Harston.
We watched the sea lions getting feed and putting on a little show for us. The birthday boys, Tryeton and Luke. They are only 6 weeks apart. We celebrated their birthdays together. Treyton's birthday was the day after we returned home.
My sister came up to my mom's to stay while we were out there. She left her duffel bag by the stairs where the kids run past frequently. Celeste got into her stuff and found some lotion. I use lotion on my face every morning and Celeste watches me some mornings getting ready for the day. I have failed to teach her what kind of lotion you are to use on your face (for those unaware, this is diaper rash cream).
Mini-golf with Grandpa Harston. My sister kindly took the kids around while I played against my dad. Out of respect, I let him win.
Winding down our vacation with sparklers for the 4th of July. My sister took the boys with her to watch fireworks while Shawn and I packed and loaded up the van. We left early July 5 to drive home.
Our family with Grandma and Grandpa VanZuiden.
